Due to abusive online behavior especially attacks or threats against the blogger, Tim O’Reilly proposed the Blogger’s Code of Conduct. The purpose of which is to enforce civility on bloggers. This move came about as a result of the threats made to blogger Kathy Sierra, author of the inoffensive blog Creating Passionate Users. In one instance she was made a target of vicious threats and misogynistic insults.

The Code emphasizes self-regulation, meaning it should be the bloggers themselves who should impose civility among themselves and place moderate comments on their blogs. If this can be done, it is expected that bloggers will be more responsible and abusive online behavior will be minimized if not totally eradicated.

They’re called widgets, applets that can be easily installed on your site even if you do not know anything about code. Most of the time, you simply copy-paste the script on your blog template or follow the instructions for the platform you are using. The results are instant and do not need to be updated. The tough part is controlling yourself from installing all of them, which is not the best idea because too many widgets will give your readers a major headache. Mozilla, the company behind FireFox, the browser that took the crown from IE as the most popular browser on the web is announcing the launch of JetPack, an open-source project that aims to create browser add-on’s easier for people who may have an idea or two. This can be compared to the way apple has allowed users, developers and just anybody who has an idea or two to author apps for their online store which has topped the apps sale records. Of the EU apparently, for it has seemingly withdrawn participation in anti-trust hearings on their Internet Explorer program that is being accused of blocking or shielding itself from other browsers. The company is pointing the finger at the EU due to scheduling conflicts which has resulted in unavailability issues between he two parties. The EU’s anti-trust hearing concerns the fact that IE is embedded within the Windows Operating system, effectively blocking other web browsers from being installed properly upon initial install. The issues with Microsoft’s WGA program that unbeknownst to most came in two versions, one that asks for permission and one that is installed with SP3.
