Refer to this short list of blogging terms. Blogging has grown steadily for the last 5 years and by that it has grown its own terms and vocabulary for bloggers to understand each other. And to separate themselves from the rest of the users.

  • Collaborative blog is a blog usually concentrated on a single issue or political stripe. It is also known as a group blog.
  • Comment spam is like the E-mail spam. Spambots or robots, bombard a certain blog site with advertising in the form of fake comments. This has been a very serious dilemma for bloggers so they came up with special tools to differentiate bots from humans. One way is through captchas.
  • Desktop Blogging Client is simply an offline blog management tool
  • Fisking is to rebut a blog entry line-by-line.
  • Flog is a blend of two words, fake and blog. A blog that is written by someone for the sole purpose of a marketing strategy.
  • Feeds are RSS Feeds
  • Milblog is term coined for blogs written by members any military organization. Like the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.
  • Moblog a combination of mobile and blog pertaining to posts sent by mobile phones using SMS or MMS messages. Photoblogs is an example.
  • Permalink is the unique URL of a single post. You can use this if you like to link to a post somewhere.
  • Photoblog is a blog containing photos and posted chronologically.
  • Pingback is the alert in the TrackBack system.

News: Controversial Vigilante Screensaver Shut Down; Trojan Warning.
Just days after they released their controversial anti-spam screensaver, Lycos Europe has shut down the campaign. The new program, “Make Love Not Spam”, was designed to actively handcuff spam servers by choking their bandwidth connection. Now, Lycos Europe has shut the campaign down for reasons still unclear.

To further compound this juicy controversy, a new Trojan horse virus has popped up, masquerading as the Make Love Not Spam screensaver. Be warned: this Trojan is NOT the MLNS program!

Definitely, there’s an enormous amount of response for this question. Some people blog to earn a living, some just wanted to share their thoughts online. And there are also some who gets high spirited of having the idea that millions of people will be able to view or read their works. This is why, influential people have resorted to Internet blogging and gave television and print industry a great run for their money. Corporate people, authors, innovators, among others have joined the mainstream because Internet blogging have become the best medium to broadcast their messages and extend their influences worldwide.

The phenomena of blog writing have become a huge success, and the age range of blog writers grew uncontrollably. Bloggers, as what the writers are called, are now caught up with the issues of privacy. This is understandable and expected because as we all know, you cannot have great control over your privacy online. And even if you have the choice whether or not to write in public, most people still opt to write publicly because that’s the default being used by almost all software and services available for blog writing. They just have to take the risk since one aspect of blogging is to have a global audience.
